About the Brenham Heritage Museum:
The Brenham Heritage Museum has an impressive home. Its building was originally constructed in 1915 as home to a U.S. Post Office. The Classical Revival structure became the Brenham Heritage Museum in 1991. Located downtown, it's on the National Register of Historic Places.
Displays at the Brenham Heritage Museum focus on the natural, historical and artistic heritage of Brenham and Washington County. And special exhibits are presented throughout the year.
Another interesting display is outside, next door to the museum: an original Silsby steam fire engine, dating to 1879 when it was purchased for the Brenham Fire Department.
The Brenham Heritage Museum is open Wednesday, 1-4 p.m., and Thursday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is charged.
