About Joe Pool Lake:
Joe Pool Lake is one of the youngest lakes in Texas. It was created by damming Mountain Creek, a tributary of the Trinity River, and was impounded in 1986. It opened to the public in 1989.
Joe Pool Lake has more than 7,000 acres in surface area with a maximum depth of 75 feet. Largemouth bass, white bass, white crappie and channel catfish are among the fish reeled in by anglers (more information, plus tips, for fishing Joe Pool Lake is available on the TPWD website).
There is a full-service marina, and on-shore there are picnicking and camping areas and hiking trails. A series of "lake parks," part of the City of Grand Prairie's park system, ring the lake.
Joe Pool Lake is a popular destination for swimmers, boaters and water-skiers, and makes a great family day stop.
