About the Buddy Holly Center and Texas Musicians Hall of Fame:
Lubbock native Buddy Holly was one of the earliest stars of rock 'n' roll, with a string of big hits before his untimely demise in a plane crash in the mid-1950s.
The Buddy Holly Center is a cultural arts facility located in Lubbock's historic Depot District. It's best-known for its permanent exhibition dedicated to the life and music of Holly.
But the Buddy Holly Center also offers interactive and dynamic exhibits and programs on Texas music and contemporary visual arts. Its Texas music collection is highlighted in the Texas Music Hall of Fame, which is located inside the center. Also inside is the Lubbock Fine Arts Gallery.
The Buddy Holly Center is open Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturdays 11 a.m.-6 p.m. There is an admission fee to enter the Buddy Holly Gallery, but other exhibitions and galleries are free unless otherwise noted.
