About the Fredda Turner Durham Children's Museum:
The Fredda Turner Durham Children's Museum is part of the Museum of the Southwest complex. The children's museum is on the grounds, but housed in a building next door to the main Turner House (where the art and science museum is housed).
This museum is, of course, designed for children, combining education and entertainment in a mix that is stimulating for young minds. There are three main exhibit areas: My Town is a child-sized city; West Texas Keys is an aquatic display; and Beach Babies is an aquatic theme room for toddlers.
Many of the items on display are interactive. In addition, there is a Career Center with computers and other resource materials. A regular schedule of classes and activities is also offered throughout the year.
The Fredda Turner Durham Children's Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sundays 2-5 p.m. There is a small admission fee.
