About Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch:
We list Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch as "belonging" to both New Braunfels and San Antonio. Most people in the local area consider this a New Braunfels attraction, but in fact the ranch is closer to the far northeastern edge of San Antonio.
Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is adjacent to Natural Bridge Caverns. Visitors can spot the long necks of giraffes on the drive up to the gates. The Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch facility includes a gift shop, petting zoo, an area with small monkeys and birds in cages, and the drive-through portion where carloads of visitors can spot all kinds of exotic animals roaming alongside the roads.
Visitors are given the option of purchasing bags of feed at the check-in. You'll want to get a couple bags, but be careful when feeding the animals. Never leave your vehicle and avoid feeding by hand. Toss the food away from the vehicle to avoid having animals block the road. (We once had an ostrich stick its head in the window and grab a bag of food away from us, running off with it!)
Among the animals ranging around the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch are the aforementioned ostriches, addax antelope, zebras, llamas, Sicilian donkeys, greater kudu and oryx buffalo. Giraffes, a rhinoceros, and some big cats are among the animals that are held in enclosures. Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch is open daily except for major holidays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (6:30 p.m. in summer months). Once you paid to drive the safari route, you can go back through as often as you like.
