About the Ellen Noel Art Museum of the Permian Basin:
Calling itself "the small museum that does great things," the Ellen Noel Art Museum of the Permian Basin opened in 1985 and is located on the campus of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
Three galleries in the museum offer nearly 20,000 square feet of display space for both a permanent collection and rotating exhibits. Artwork exhibited ranges from historical to contemporary.
The George and Milly Rhodus Sculpture and Sensory Garden offers a museum experience designed for the visually and physically challenged, including fragrant plants such as "chocolate" daises and "lemon" geranium, tactile-interest plants like "Lamb's Ear," "Feathertail Grass," and "Cat's Paw," and many sculptures and figurative pieces intended to be hands-on.
The Ellen Noel Art Museum of the Permian Basin is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday 2-5 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Group tours are available by arrangement.
