About the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts:
The San Antonio Museum of Fine Arts is a 30,000-square-foot building constructed of native Texas limestone and meant to evoke the image of Fort Concho.
The building itself is quite striking, with a saddleback copper roof intended to resemble a covered wagon, and a 4,000-square-foot deck affording views of the Concho River and downtown.
The San Angelo Museum of Art of Fine Arts houses a permanent collection, plus numerous traveling exhibits throughout the year. A very popular ceramics exhibit is featured twice a year. The San Angelo Children's Art Museum is also housed in the SAMFA building.
Days and hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sundays, 1-4 p.m. The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts is closed on Mondays and major holidays. There is a small admission fee.
