About: Falconhead Golf Club, near the Bee Cave township, was the first PGA Tour Signature Series Golf Course when it opened in 2003. The PGA Tour is not involved in Falconhead's ownership or operation; however, the Tour's design department was responsible for Falcon's layout. And the designation signifies that Falconhead Golf Club was built to be capable of hosting high-level tournaments. That it certainly is with a long, challenging layout. There is plenty of moderate elevation change around the course, built on the former Steiner Ranch, and while there are few bunkers what bunkers there are are huge and definitely in play. Several bunkers feature geometric designs within them, built of grass islands with sand troughs (sort of bunkers within bunkers). The No. 17 hole is a par-3 that plays to a green cantilevered out over thin air, a manmade construction meant to mimic the washes, creeks and draws of the Texas Hill Country.
