About: Waterwood National Golf Course has hosted national amateur championship as well as the final stage of PGA Tour qualifying. Paul Azinger, Hal Sutton, Chip Beck and Scott Hoch are among the golfers who earned the PGA Tour cards here. This course also has a reputation for being among the toughest in Texas - it once had the highest slope rating in the state. Tight fairways and water in play on 13 holes keep the course a challenge today. A par-72, Waterwood National Golf Course tips out at 6,872 yards, with a course rating of 73.7 and a slope of 142. The No. 14 hole was once ranked by Golf Digest as one of the 36 best holes in the U.S. The course is actually about 20 miles east of Huntsville, near Lake Lewisville.
