About: The two golf courses that make up the La Cantera Golf Club are part of the Westin La Cantera Resort, considered one of the best golf resorts in the U.S. The resort and the two golf courses are on San Antonio's northwest side in the hills and valleys of the Texas Hill Country. The Resort Course at La Cantera is the host course of the PGA Tour's Texas Open. It features lots of elevation change, including several holes with tee shots from greatly elevated tees. The best-known of these is No. 7, where the tee shot is from a limestone bluff 70 feet above the fairway. The Resort Course play shorter than its length of 7,001 yards because so many of its holes play downhill (No. 1, for example, is a 665-yard par-5, but the hole drops more than 100 feet from tee to green).
