About: Historic Oak Hills Country Club was founded in 1922 as Alamo Country Club, designed by the legendary A.W. Tillinghast. Alamo Country Club ceased operations during World War II, and after the war reopened as Oak Hills Country Club. Oak Hills is now one of the most exclusive clubs in San Antonio. The course was the site for many years of the PGA Tour Texas Open, hosted the very first Players Championship (then called the Nabisco Championship), and currently is the site of the Champions Tour SBC Championship. Arnold Palmer, Hale Irwin, Lee Trevino, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Watson and Nick Price are among the golfers who have won at Oak Hills. The course itself does feature plenty of rolling hills and plenty of massive oak trees that frame and pinch the playing areas. The greens are very small and fast and well-guarded by deep bunkers. The front and back nine both end with par-3s over water.
