About: Although this course is often referred to (and sometimes listed) as "James Connally Municipal Golf Course," it is not owned by the City of Waco and is not a muny. Connally Golf Course was originally built in the mid-1950s on the grounds of the now-defunct Connally Air Force Base. But for much of its life - until Cottonwood Creek was built in the mid-1980s - this was the only public golf course in Waco. Hence, it was often called the "municipal" course. Today, the course is affiliated with Texas State Technical College, near whose campus it sits. Connally Golf Course is a par-72 track that stretches out to around 7,000 yards. The course is wide-open with few trees or hazards.
